Anna Charney is a painter and muralist of abstract pattern works. After completing her undergraduate education at SAIC, Charney returned to her hometown of Denver, CO. In 2016, Charney began to expand her practice into murals and street art. This past fall, she completed a one-year spray paint apprenticeship to master the technique. Currently, she splits her time between studio work and large mural installations, mainly throughout Colorado. Charney’s optical paintings and murals are characterized by their expansive compositions, graphic dot patterning, and dense detail. Using acrylic on canvas and aerosol on murals, she best describes her illusionistic spaces and bending forms as “digital taffy.”
